Schools are dedicated. Churches are dedicated. Hospitals are dedicated. What does that mean? It means those buildings are set apart for a particular use or purpose. And sometimes they have been re-purposed. They were dedicated for one thing, but now they are dedicated to another purpose. Did you know that people can be set apart—even re-purposed. The New Testament writer said of the believers in Ephesus, “Once you without Christ . . . having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” The death and resurrection of God’s only Son allows you and me to be re-purposed. Once dedicated to the wants and wishes of my small selfish heart, I am now dedicated to the will and purposes of Almighty God. I am re-purposed to serve the Lord, the Church and others.
